It describes any form of precipitation that contains high levels of nitric and sulfuric acids. Normal rain is slightly acidic ,with pH of 5.6 while acid rain generally has pH between 4.2 and 4.4. Higher temperatures usually accelerate reactions, suggesting that global warming is likely to increase the formation of acidic materials.

A warmer atmosphere would influence the occurrence and severity of acid rain. Many of the chemical reactions that lead to the formation of acid rain are affected by temperature.
