Plant growth depends on level of sunlight and nutrients. The amount of availability of plants affect the population of herbivores which in turns effect the carnivores that feed on them. Predator indeed help maintain the population of herbivores from becoming too numerous and devouring the plant. If the new habitat fails to restrict species growth it would continue to multiply out competing the native organisms for resources disrupting the entire ecosystem
